The Sinharaja forest reserve is a national park and a biodiversity hotspot, the forest reserve gained international significance after having been designated a biosphere reserve and world heritage site by the UNESCO. Kanneliya rain forest which is in extent 10,140 hectares is located in Southern Province of Sri Lanka was designated as a significant biosphere reserve in 2004 by the UNESO This forest is a richest area in terms of flora in the whole of South Asia the forest reserve is located about 35 kilometers Northwest of the City of Galle.

Among tourists who are coming to Sri Lanka an another favourite attraction is elephant watching. The best place to watch elephants in semi wild life is the Pinnawela elephant orphanage.
